Victoria Gardner Bio

Victoria Louise Gardner (born 24 September 1980) is an English former track cyclist. She is born in Bedfordshire, England. Her father, Max Pendleton is also a cyclist and former British champion (in grasscycling). She has a twin brother, Alex James Pendleton and older sister, Nicola Jane.

Her specialty was keirin disciplines, team sprint, and sprint. In the period of 2005-2012 Victoria was representing the United Kingdom in international competition. During that time, she won 9 world titles, six of them were in the sprint competition. She is the most successful Great Britain female Olympian, with 2 gold medals and 1 silver.

At the age 9 she had her first 400m race, on the grass. Later, at the age 13 she was spotted by Marshal Thomas, national track coach, as one of the promising people for cycling. But in that period she focused on education. She finished Fernhill School in Letchworth Garden City, and advanced degree in Sport and Exercise Science from Northumbria University. During the time she was a student, she won three silver and one bronze medal in British National Track Championships (year 2001).

In 2009, she appeared on the cover of the FHM, men’s magazine and in 2012 on the cover of Harper's Bazaar magazine. Victoria had a love relationship with the British sports scientist, Scott Gardner. Because they were on the same team, before the Olympic Games in 2008 she had to leave the team, but soon she was re-hired. They married in September 2013. Interesting fact is that she had tattooed a line from ‘’Today’’ (The Smashing Pumpkins' song) for her 30th birthday. Today she and her husband live in Wilmslow, Cheshire.
